The Thor Heyerdahl Conference
Each year, the Thor Heyerdahl Institute organises the Thor Heyerdahl International Day, a one-day conference that addresses contemporary global issues. The aim of the conference is to honour and promote Thor Heyerdahl’s ideals and principles and to further develop his research, whilst also highlighting and promoting the Institute as a national forum for global issues.
The conference has been held since 2006 and addressed the following issues:

Lectures from Herdis Hølleland and Anders Sundnes Løvlie.
The Thor Heyerdahl International Day 2016 – International Dialogue – A changing world
Lectures with Hilde Henriksen Waage (UiO), Cecilie Hellestveit (ILPI), Cecilie Mauritzen (NIVA) and explorers like Torgeir Higraff and Liv Arnesen will adress this years topic: international dialogue.
The Thor Heyerdahl International Day 2014 – Sustainable Development
In 2014 it is 100 years since Thor Heyerdahl was born in Larvik. His life, research, expeditions and especially his ardent commitment to environmental protection and peaceful coexistence has made Thor Heyerdahl one of the most famous and recognized Norwegians of all time.
