The fight for the River Nile
The River Nile is a source of life for millions of people, it is also the cause of great conflict as countries fight for the resources it holds. In the film “The fight for the River Nile”, Professor Terje Tvedt takes us on a spectacular journey looking at the river today and through time.
Professor Terje Tvedt of the University of Bergen has studied the River Nile for over 30 years. The Nile runs through 11 countries, and growing populations, new technology and climate changes have meant that the fight for its waters has become increasingly desperate. The Heyerdahl-Institute is one of the sponsors and an important collaborator in this project. Professor Terje Tvedt has spoken at the Institute’s conferences in Norway and the USA on many occasions, most recently in Larvik in 2014.
